RFK Jr. Torn to Shreds for Cancelling Vaccine Research Projects

Robert F. Kennedy

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has decided on a “who cares” approach to America’s public health policy. The vaccine conspiracist announced Tuesday that the Department of Health and Human Services had directed the cancellation of $500 million worth of vaccine projects, including 22 mRNA studies. Doctors reacted in horror to the news, arguing that Kennedy’s decision to nix the vaccine studies would effectively leave America completely defenseless against another pandemic.

Ice badge

A number of employees with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were informed via email late on Tuesday that they have been reassigned, effective immediately, to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The workers had seven days to accept the reassignment, under threat of being removed from the civil service.

FAFO: Unofficial name for Florida DOGE touted by state leaders has separate meaning

DeSantis behind a Free State of Florida sign

lorida Governor Ron DeSantis and the state’s top financial officer appear to want to send a new message for agencies they believe are wasting taxpayer dollars: “F— Around and Find Out.” Of course, they do not want to put it that way. Both the governor and Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia embraced a new name for the state’s Department of Government Efficiency, known more familiarly as DOGE.

Combating Domestic Violent Extremism Is No Longer a FEMA Priority

FEMA

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is planning to direct states and tribes to immediately stop certain activities intended to combat domestic violent extremism, according to a draft of an information bulletin obtained by WIRED. These changes, according to a separate document also obtained by WIRED, appear to have been suggested following a meeting between FEMA and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) where the two agencies essentially discussed how to legally stop funding dedicated to combating domestic extremism.

The Supreme Court Prepares to End Voting Rights as We Know Them

Chief Justice John Roberts

Republicans argue equal treatment of minority voters is actually discrimination against white voters. Under the Roberts Court, equal protection has become a sword to wield against programs, policies, and laws intended to create an equal system. The lingering Louisiana case now presents the Republican justices an opportunity to hollow out one of the few remaining protections of the VRA, the requirement of minority-majority districts, under this twisted reasoning.

Migrant Kids Face ICE While Florida Lawmakers Skip Town for Recess

ICE taking children from schools

A Trump executive order signed in January repealed Biden-era protections that had barred ICE from entering sensitive locations like schools and churches. Wilson’s stance also clashes with the Florida Department of Education’s pledge to support Trump’s immigration agenda, made shortly after that order was issued. Florida is home to the third-largest undocumented population in the U.S., with an estimated 1.2 million undocumented immigrants — 4.1% of the state’s population. More than 60,000 are of school age.

Texas Dems’ Bold Move

Indivisible National logo

Trump told the Texas GOP to take an already-gerrymandered state and gerrymander it more. Texas Republicans heard the order loud and clear, and now they’re expediting a norm-busting mid-decade redistricting scheme that all but guarantees Republicans five more House seats next November. In a state that Trump won with 56% of the vote, Republicans under this map would safely control 80% of the state’s congressional seats. Texas Dems are fighting back, with some help from friends.

A group of lawmakers who fled the state arrived at Chicago O’Hare Airport on Sunday around 7:30 p.m.

Trump and Epstein

Ghislaine Maxwell, the British socialite who is serving a 20-year sentence for trafficking underage girls for Jeffrey Epstein, has been quietly transferred to a minimum-security prison camp in Texas. Maxwell’s transfer from a federal facility in Tallahassee, Florida, to Federal Prison Camp Bryan comes just one week after she met with Department of Justice (DOJ) Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche amid ongoing controversy over the Trump Administration’s handling of the so-called “Epstein files”.

National Public Radio logo

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the conduit for federal funds to NPR and PBS, announced on Friday that it is beginning to wind down its operations given President Trump has signed a law clawing back $1.1 billion in funding for public broadcasting through fiscal year 2027. It was the first time in nearly 60 years that Congress had refused to fund CPB.
