Florida House Passes Sweeping Changes On Voter Eligibility

The House voted 83-31 on the bill (HB 991), which contains wide-ranging changes to the state election code, including new proof-of-citizenship requirements when registering to vote, reductions to the kind of photo identification cards that can be used at polling locations, and requiring an individual’s legal citizenship status to be posted on drivers’ licenses and ID cards issued by the state.

Florida Wants Its Own CIA. That Could Lead To Unchecked Domestic Surveillance

If Florida enacts House Bill 945, it will create a national first – CIA-style structure at the state level that blurs the traditional line between state law enforcement and intelligence work.

The bill’s language allows scrutiny based on “views” and “opinions”, a standard that echoes some of the darkest chapters of American surveillance history. In the 1960s and 70s, the FBI’s Cointelpro program infiltrated protest movements, monitored journalists, and targeted civil rights leaders – not for crimes, but beliefs.

CDC: Florida Has 107 Confirmed Measles Cases

Florida ranks third in the number of confirmed measles cases across the country, new data published by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show.

The CDC data, updated Friday, show 107 confirmed measles cases in Florida as of Feb. 26.

Gallop Franklin Elected To Lead House Democrats In 2028-30 Term

House Democrats have selected Rep. Gallop Franklin to lead their caucus into the next decade.

Franklin, who represents Tallahassee-based House District 8, was chosen as Leader-designate-elect in an uncontested election, setting him up to lead the caucus during the 2029 and 2030 Legislative Sessions. He will also helm the party’s House campaign arm during the 2028 cycle.
