DAILY ACTION: August 22, 2025
TELL CONGRESS TO STAND DOWN THE FEDERAL ESCALATION IN D.C.

Over the last week, Trump has occupied Washington, D.C., and sent in the National Guard. He has redirected MPD resources to harass residents and bulldoze encampments of the unhoused — without knowing where they will send the people living there, other than somewhere far away.
THE ACTIONS IN OUR NATION’S CAPITOL ARE A TRIAL BALLON FOR DEPLOYING FEDERAL TROOPS TO CITIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
Resistance allies across the country – DC has no voting representatives in Congress. That means there is no one who can advocate for them right now — D.C NEEDS ALL OF US TO SPEAK UP FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NO FEDERAL REPRESENTATION .
Call for Congress to do everything in their power to stand down the escalation of federal forces in DC.
The occupying federal forces are an ongoing and increasing danger to DC residents. These federal agents are violently profiling, harassing, and arresting Black and Brown DC community members.
They are armed, sometimes unidentified, and moving in gangs through the District confronting people who are simply at home, driving to work, or doing routine daily activities.
Specifically, ask members of Congress to support the termination resolution introduced by Rep. Jamie Raskin and Senator Chris Van Hollen, reject the bills to extend the federal occupation period, and do everything possible to withdraw federal law enforcement agencies and the National Guard from DC.
Send a letter to your members of Congress telling them to actively work to stop what is happening in DC right now. Visit the FreeDC website to use their form letter to write to your electeds and let them know that this misuse of federal power to harass and intimidate the residents of Washington, D.C. is an unacceptable overreach that threatens the very foundations of our democracy.
