Reverend William J. Barber speaks to protesters gathered during a protest organized by Kentucky Poor People’s Campaign in Frankfort, Ky., Monday, June 4, 2018. Anti-poverty activists were denied group access to Kentucky’s Capitol following an outdoor rally that included a denunciation of the nation’s first work requirements for Medicaid. (AP

January 20 @ 8:00 pm

This national gathering is a call to “love forward” together and to mobilize with moral clarity. We will reflect on the state of our nation, the responsibilities of faith leadership in this season, and the actions required to meet this moment with integrity and courage.

This call will be led by:

Bishop William J. Barber II, President and Senior Lecturer of Repairers of the Breach

Dr. Hanna R. Broome, National Director of Religious Affairs, Repairers of the Breach

Bishop Darin Moore, Presiding Bishop, Eastern North Carolina Episcopal District, AME Zion Church

Bishop Yvette Flunder, Senior Pastor of City of Refuge UCC and Presiding Bishop of The Fellowship of Affirming Ministries

Rev. Patricia Boswell, President, North Carolina Council of Churches

Rev. Steve Swayne, Director, St. Francis Springs Prayer Center

Together, we will recommit ourselves to a moral vision rooted in:

Unabridged voting rights

Living wages and the end of poverty

Welcoming immigrants

Religious values of mercy, grace, and empathy—not religious nationalism

Fully supported public education

Healthcare for all

Love over hate, peace over fear, and accountability over unchecked militarism

Care for creation instead of surrendering it to polluters

A democracy led by the people, not dominated by wealth and power

This is not a symbolic gathering. It is a briefing for moral action and disciplined leadership. The nation is watching what faith will do next.
